How do I book a flight for my pet, and can I do it online?

Online booking for pets is not available.

Customers must contact the embassy or consulate of their destination country for animal travel regulations, obtain all necessary vaccines and paperwork (health certificates, vaccination records, import permits), and check CDC and USDA APHIS advisories. Dogs traveling to the U.S. must be microchipped, at least 6 months old, appear healthy, and be accompanied by a completed CDC Dog Import Form. EU travel requires a veterinary certificate and microchip (tattoos not accepted). Some destinations prohibit pets in the cabin entirely (e.g., Australia, New Zealand, UK, Hong Kong, South Africa, Hawaii). Additional charges such as veterinary bills, customs clearance, and quarantine costs may apply.
Are there temperature-related restrictions for pets traveling in the cargo hold?
Yes. Delta does not ship pets if the temperature exceeds 80°F (27°C) or falls below 20°F (-7°C) at any point during the animal's journey (at origin, transit, or destination). A Certificate of Acclimation is required when temperatures fall between 20°F (-7°C) and 45°F (7°C).
What is the airline's policy on sedating pets during travel?
The sedation of household dogs and cats is not permitted during air travel, including any medication that causes sedation. The use of tranquilizers or sedatives at high altitudes is unpredictable and poses a safety risk.
