Fee is per one-way trip, collected at check-in. U.S./Canada/Puerto Rico/U.S. Virgin Islands: $95 USD/CAD for tickets issued before April 8, 2025; $150 USD/CAD for tickets issued on/after April 8, 2025. International: $200 USD/CAD/EUR. Brazil: $75 for tickets before April 8, 2025; $200 USD on/after April 8, 2025. Maximum kennel dimensions of 18x11x11 inches (approx. 45.72x27.94x27.94 cm) fit most aircraft; actual under-seat space varies by aircraft. Pets must travel in a soft-sided, leak-proof, ventilated kennel (3 sides for domestic, 4 sides for international). 1 pet per kennel (exceptions: a female with unweaned litter aged 8 weeks–6 months, or 2 pets of same breed/size aged 8 weeks–6 months if compatible and fitting in one kennel—charged as 1 pet). Domestic cabin limit: up to 4 pets in Delta Comfort/Main; 2 pets in Delta First (domestic); 0 in Delta One, Business Class (international), Delta Premium. Pets not permitted in bulkhead seats, exit rows, no-stowage seats, flat-bed/Delta One seats, or specified rows on A330-200/A330-300/B757-200. Pets must remain in kennel at all times in airport and on board. Must book via Delta Reservations (first-come, first-served). Pet must be at least 8 weeks old for domestic travel. Cabin travel not permitted to/from: Australia, Barbados, Brazil/Colombia/Dominican Republic (originating), Hawaii, Hong Kong, Iceland, Jamaica, New Zealand, South Africa, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates.
Cargo shipment (Delta Cargo) is currently restricted to active U.S. Military or U.S. State Department Foreign Service Officers (FSO) with active permanent change of station orders, plus exceptions for service dogs that cannot be accommodated in the cabin. Booking must be made with Delta Cargo Customer Service Center (1-800-352-2746) separately from passenger reservation; pets cannot be booked until 14 days prior to departure. Pets are not guaranteed to be on the same flight as the customer. Domestic acceptance cut-off: 2.5 hours before departure; international: 4 hours. Pets must arrive at cargo facility 4–6 hours prior to departure for domestic, 6 hours for international. International customers must use an IATA-approved pet shipper. Crate must comply with IATA LAR Container Requirement #1; pet must be able to stand, sit upright, turn around, and lie down without touching top or sides. Max kennel weight 100 lbs (45 kg) for checked baggage (SkyWest/Endeavor). Health certificate from a USDA-accredited veterinarian required within 10 days of travel; international travel requires an international health certificate. Sedation/tranquilizers not permitted. Animals not accepted on any Delta-operated 767 aircraft as checked baggage or cargo; not accepted as checked baggage on A330-200 or on B757 flights to/from Europe. No single Delta-operated flight exceeding 12 hours; no itineraries with more than 1 connection for checked baggage. Checked baggage fee for military: $200 USD each way for U.S./USVI/Puerto Rico/Canada/Caribbean; $200 USD for Brazil (tickets issued on/after April 8, 2025). Pets not permitted as checked baggage to/from: Australia, Barbados, Hong Kong, Iceland, Jamaica, Liberia/Costa Rica, New Zealand, Senegal, South Africa, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates.
Only fully-trained dogs qualify as service animals; emotional support animals and service animals in training are not recognized. Must be up-to-date on all vaccinations and at least 4 months old. Must fit within the foot space of the passenger's seat without intruding into the aisle or other customers' space. Maximum of 2 service animals per passenger (additional tickets may need to be purchased for floor space). No fee for transporting trained service animals or their assistive devices. Service animals may not sit in exit rows. If animal cannot be accommodated in cabin, it may be checked to the cargo hold at no charge. For flights to London (Heathrow, Gatwick) or Manchester, pre-approval letter from the destination Animal Reception Centre is required. Some countries (e.g., Australia, New Zealand) only allow service animals via cargo with correct documentation; Cuba treats service animals as household pets upon arrival and requires a household pet certificate.
Cats and dogs may travel on the same flight. Brachycephalic (snub-nosed) dogs and cats are not permitted on Delta or Delta Connection flights in any capacity.
