Only trained and certified service dogs are allowed in the cabin. No general pet cabin travel is permitted on Icelandair. Emotional support animals, comfort animals, companionship animals, therapy animals, and service animals in training are not accepted in the cabin.
Animal hold transport on international flights is suspended from November 1, 2024. Hold transport continues on domestic flights within Iceland only. Maximum 2 crates per aircraft. Max combined weight (animal + crate) is 50 kg (110 lbs) per crate. Max crate dimensions: 92 cm (L) x 64 cm (W) x 71 cm (H). Two animals of the same species may share one crate if the crate is a suitable size. Crates must be hard plastic, IATA-compliant, with waterproof bottom; collapsible metal or fabric crates are not accepted. Animals sent as cargo must arrive at airport no later than 1 hour before departure. Fee is per crate and is non-refundable. Icelandair Cargo animal transport is currently unavailable.
All documents must be submitted at least 2 business days before departure. Service animals must fit in the lap or foot space in front of the passenger. Maximum of 2 service animals per passenger with a disability. Service animals travel free of charge. Maximum transit layover at Keflavik Airport is 3 hours for passengers with service animals. Stopovers in Iceland are not possible as all animals entering Iceland must be quarantined for two weeks. Service animals in transit are escorted to a secluded area and are not allowed contact with other animals or passengers. Only dogs accepted; emotional support animals and therapy animals are not accepted.
Only service dogs are allowed in the cabin. General pet cabin travel is not mentioned. Two animals of the same species may share one crate in the hold (domestic Iceland flights only, as international hold transport is suspended from November 1, 2024).
