Fee is per segment/carrier, not per pet. Up to three small, lightweight animals of the same species can share one carrier. Fee varies by route: Spain domestic (excl. Canary Islands) $50/segment or $75 with connecting flight; Canary Islands/Europe/North Africa/Middle East $75/segment or $95 with connecting flight; America/Asia $215/segment or $235 with connecting flight. Carrier sum of dimensions must not exceed 105 cm. On Air Nostrum flights, carrier cannot be rigid. Pet must remain in carrier under the seat throughout the flight. Cannot sit next to emergency exits. Prior authorisation required through Booking Offices; dogs, cats, tortoises and birds can be booked online at time of ticket purchase. Brachycephalic breeds restricted to cabin only (not hold). Pets not accepted in cabin on flights to/from London-Heathrow, Manchester, Edinburgh, or London-Gatwick (UK). Not accepted in cabin on flights to/from Doha (Qatar) — hold only, except assistance dogs. LEVEL airline accepts pets in cabin subject to availability.
Hold (checked baggage) fees vary by weight and route (in USD): Up to 10 kg — Spain domestic $100/segment or $145 connecting; Europe/Canary Islands/N.Africa/Middle East $150/segment or $190 connecting; America/Asia/Doha $330/segment or $400 connecting. 11–25 kg — Spain $110/$155; Europe etc. $160/$200; America/Asia/Doha $355/$425. 26–45 kg — Spain $120/$165; Europe etc. $170/$225; America/Asia/Doha $390/$455. Fees payable at airport only. Maximum dimensions for Air Nostrum flights: 83×65×56 cm. Two adult animals accustomed to living together (max 14 kg each) or three animals under 6 months from same litter may share one carrier. Connecting flight transit must be 90 min–4 hours. Booking required at least 48 hours before departure. Hold transport restricted (not available) on Iberia-operated routes Madrid to/from Boston, Fortaleza, Puerto Rico, Recife, Toronto, Washington. Also restricted on Iberia Express-operated routes Madrid to/from Cairo, Tel Aviv, Keflavik. Not available on Vueling-operated flights. Not available to/from any UK airport. Not available from Dublin (Ireland). Not available to/from South Africa (must use cargo/freight). As cargo (freight via IAG Cargo through WOOF Airlines): required when pet exceeds 45 kg, breed restrictions apply, legal entry restrictions in destination, or pet travelling unaccompanied.
Must inform Iberia at least 48 hours before departure (or at time of booking). Maximum two assistance dogs per passenger on US flights (subject to US DOT 14 CFR Part 382). Assistance dog must be on lead/collar or harness at all times; cannot roam freely or occupy other passengers' space. Cannot sit in emergency exit rows. Therapy/emotional support dogs are NOT recognised as assistance dogs and are treated as pets. Assistance dogs are exempt from cabin restrictions on routes where hold transport is restricted (e.g. Iberia Express routes, LEVEL). Free of charge.
Cabin also accepts ornamental fish, tortoises, and birds (except poultry and birds of prey). Hold transport is restricted to cats and dogs only (excluding snub-nosed and dangerous breeds). Weasel family animals (including ferrets) are not accepted by Iberia at all.
